Welcome to The Mobile Foxhole!

Welcome to the The Mobile Foxhole, A Path of Exploration, Growth, and Healing.
I’m glad you’re here. This site is more than just a collection of places I’ve been; it’s about the journey of transformation, healing, and discovering what’s next when life forces us to change.

Lifestyle Of A Digital Nomad

For me, choosing a digital nomad life wasn’t just about travel. It was about finding a way to heal after years of service and the transition back into the world. That shift, like so many others experience, whether from a career change, personal loss, divorce, family struggles, or any life-altering event, left me searching for a new path forward. I realized that movement wasn’t just about seeing new places, it was about breaking free from stagnation, finding clarity, and creating a life that feels meaningful again.

Let's Explore

No matter what brings you here, whether you are a traveler, someone navigating personal transitions, or simply looking for a new perspective, I invite you to join me in exploring, learning, and transforming. The journey isn’t just mine, it’s one we all take in our own way. So take a look around, follow along, and remember that healing and growth happen wherever we choose to step forward.

Explore – Movement as Medicine

Healing isn’t passive—it requires action. Movement helps break the mental and emotional patterns that keep us trapped. When I started traveling again, I realized that motion itself is a form of therapy. There’s something about physically moving through the world that helps us process change, loss, and uncertainty. Walking through a new city, hiking a mountain trail, or even just driving with no destination can give our minds the space to heal and reset. Exploration isn’t just about seeing new places—it’s about seeing life differently. Whether it’s through travel, trying new things, or stepping outside of routine, movement creates momentum for change. Every time we experience something new, we rewire our brains to embrace curiosity and adaptability. Even small shifts—trying a new hobby, making new connections, or changing our daily environment—can open the door to bigger transformations. When we explore, we step outside of ourselves. We stop focusing on the past, on what went wrong, or what we could have done differently. Instead, we are present. We observe, we absorb, and we begin to see the world not as something we are stuck in, but as something we are a part of.

Learn – Growth Through Experience

Every place I’ve visited, every challenge I’ve faced, and every culture I’ve engaged with has taught me something valuable. True learning doesn’t just come from books or classrooms—it comes from experience, from discomfort, from stepping into the unknown. The moment we allow ourselves to be students of life, we begin to grow in ways we never expected. Learning isn’t just about facts or knowledge—it’s about understanding. Traveling has taught me patience, humility, and the power of human connection. It has taught me that people everywhere, despite cultural differences, share the same basic hopes and struggles. It has taught me that we are all connected, even when it feels like we’re alone. And the best part? You don’t need to travel to learn. We can learn in our own backyards—by having conversations with people different from us, by challenging our own beliefs, and by actively seeking new perspectives. If we stay open to growth, life itself becomes the greatest teacher.

Explore – Movement as Medicine

One of the hardest things about healing is allowing yourself to change. It’s easy to stay the same, to cling to what’s comfortable, even if it’s hurting us. But transformation only happens when we let go of what no longer serves us. Transformation isn’t a single moment—it’s a process. It’s the moment you realize that an old way of thinking is holding you back. It’s the day you wake up and decide to do something different, even if it’s scary. It’s recognizing that growth is uncomfortable, but staying the same is worse. For me, transformation meant: * Letting go of the belief that I had to stay in one place. * Letting go of the fear of starting over. * Letting go of toxic habits and relationships. * Letting go of the idea that I was “stuck” in any way. The more I embraced change, the more I became the person I was meant to be.

Hi, my name is Chris. I’m an explorer, a veteran, and a lifelong learner. My journey has taken me through years of military service, where I learned that staying still meant vulnerability. In the military, being static was dangerous, every time we stopped, we became a target. Mortars, ambushes, and uncertainty followed any moment of stillness.

Choosing a Digital Nomad Life as a Path to Healing, Personal Growth, and Freedom

That lesson stayed with me, not just in combat but in life. Movement is survival, and movement is healing. Healing doesn’t happen in stagnation; it happens in motion, through change, through exploration. That’s why I’ve chosen a digital nomad life, because it gives me the freedom to keep moving, to seek new experiences, and to grow without limitations. Travel isn’t just about seeing new places; it’s about constantly evolving, finding clarity in unfamiliar spaces, and discovering who I am beyond what I’ve left behind. This is my journey, one of exploration, learning, and transformation.

There was a time when I felt stuck—trapped between the past and an uncertain future. After 12 years in the U.S. military, I was medically retired due to service-related injuries, and for the first time in my life, I didn’t have a clear mission.

The structure, the discipline, the sense of purpose—it was all gone, leaving behind a void that I didn’t know how to fill.
But transitioning into the unknown isn’t just a military experience. We all face major transitions—whether it’s a career change, a divorce, finishing school with no clear direction, losing a job, or simply feeling like life isn’t what you thought it would be. Sometimes, the hardest part isn’t the situation itself—it’s figuring out what comes next. No matter what stage of life we’re in, we all experience moments where we must redefine ourselves, step into the unknown, and take risks we never expected to take.
For me, that answer came in the form of movement. Travel became more than just a way to see the world—it became a way to heal, to rediscover who I was, and to build a life that actually felt like my own. What started as a way to survive became something much more: a way to grow, a way to connect, and a way to live with real freedom. There’s a reason why people say movement is medicine. Physically, mentally, and emotionally, forward motion keeps us from getting stuck. It reminds us that life keeps going—and so must we.
